PlayStation 4 owners complaining of failure to send signal to TV

Despite the PlayStation 4 doing quite well with its North American launch, having sold more than 1 million units, some users seem to be having trouble with the console. According to Eurogamer, a number of gamers are complaining that they recieved the console dead on arrival, and that the console is failing to send a signal to the TV. While the console is supposed to show a white light when powered on, the users are instead getting a blinking blue light.Sony has stated that it is investigating the reported problems with the console, but has also pointed out that the number of systems affected is actually very small. The company said that less than 0.4 percent of PlayStation 4 units shipped so far have faced the problem The number is supposedly "within our expectations for a new product introduction."

Sony has made it official. The PS4 does, in fact, exist

Hopefully, it isn't as severe as the Xbox 360's red ring of death was

In response to the issue, Sony has posted some troubleshooting advice on the PlayStation 4 Support page for those who are getting the blinking blue light. The possible issues include TV compatibility, issues with the console's power supply, hard drive or overall hardware. To combat this, the company suggests updating the TV's firmware, making sure the power and HDMI connectors aren't damaged and checking to see if the HDD is properly seated in its bay.Failing that, users can also try out the PS4's safe mode, which lowers the display resolution down to 480p and allows users to update the system software, restore default settings or restart the system. It also allows users to rebuild the database and initialise the PS4, which brings it back to its out-of-the-box factory settings, deleting all user data in the process. The console is going to hit stores in Europe on November 29.
