Following reports about Microsoft possibly testing Windows 8.1 a.k.a. Blue for its mobile OS, prolific tipster @evLeaks has revealed that Nokia is working on the first Windows Phone Blue devices. The tweet reads, “Nokia Goldfinger and Moneypenny are shaping up to be the first Windows Phone Blue devices.” It should be noted that both codenames are reference to characters from the James Bond canon. The Verge further reports that Goldfinger is set to be Nokia’s flagship device. The site even quotes some unnamed sources at Nokia, revealing that the new devices will feature the company’s '3D Touch' technology. Reportedly, the '3D Touch' feature will use the devices' sensors to detect interactions that are off-the-glass.
Windows Phone 8.1 has leaked earlier
The devices will further come with hand gesture support to let users navigate without touching the display, says the report. Some other gestures under consideration are flipping and scrolling. It must be noted that despite knowing quite a few details about 3D Touch, it isn’t clear whether these 'Bond' devices are smartphones or tablets. It is highly speculated that Microsoft may reveal the Windows Phone 8.1 update at Mobile World Congress 2014. Previous reports suggest that the upcoming Lumia devices are likely to drop the “Nokia” branding and Lumia 1820 could be the first one. It could also be the first device to feature the 8.1 update.
