Microsoft has now detailed the “first wave” of apps that will be arriving on the Xbox One in each of the 13 launch markets starting from November 22. A quick look through the expansive list on the official blog post shows a host of TV channels, video services and streaming apps being offered. For the United States, out of the 19 supported apps, prominent ones like Amazon Instant Video, ESPN, FOX NOW, HBO GO (listed as “coming soon”), Hulu Plus, NetFlix, TED, Verizon FiOS TV and VUDU are seen. Users from other markets like Brazil and New Zealand can also get their hands on services like Sky Online, Vivo Play, Quickflix and Twitch. Markets like Canada will be getting services like CinemaNow, MUZU TV, The NFL on Xbox One and Sportsnet. UK users will be able to access services like Eurosport, NOW TV as well as Demand 5. Supported apps for India have still not been revealed, given that the console is slated to hit the market sometime next year.

Microsoft has revealed the list of entertainment apps coming to the Xbox One

The company has been stating that it was important to offer more entertainment options to Xbox fans. While talking about this, Marc Whitten, Xbox Chief Product Officer, said, “We set out to make Xbox One the all-in-one games and entertainment hub for your home. The one system that offers the best games next to the best entertainment experiences and apps. Along with offering a stellar app portfolio from around the world, Xbox One takes the next step by offering them in a way that is seamless and easy to use.”Microsoft also said that in addition to bringing Live TV in every market that the Xbox One will be sold, it also aimed at bringing premium, voice and gesture controlled TV and entertainment apps designed for the living room. Users, through the console, can also create their own personal Favorites in OneGuide, which is the Xbox One electronic programme guide. This will allow users to easily choose what the user wants to watch, be it a TV channel, or something inside an app. Users can also add their personal photos and videos from the SkyDrive app to the OneGuide Favorites. Another interactive feature that the company was keen to talk about was the centralised Bing Search option. The feature essentially allows users to utilise the search engine for TV, movies, games or music scans across all apps to find what they are looking for, as opposed to hunting through each app.
