Micromax 4-inch dual-core Bolt A61 spotted on official site

Micromax’s official site has listed a new smartphone–Bolt A61. Though it appears to be a budget smartphone, the company hasn’t mentioned the pricing or availability of the handset. We do know some of the specs though. The Micromax Bolt A61 is a dual-SIM phone (GSM+GSM) with dual standby support. These days most devices fall in the phablet category, but the Bolt A61 gets a reasonably-sized 4-inch display. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1GHz Spreadtrum SC7710 processor coupled with mere 256MB RAM. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Take a quick look at its specifications:

  • 4-inch display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels

  • 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS

  • 512MB onboard storage, expandable up to 16GB with microSD card slot

  • 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera

All of this is fuelled by a 1500mAh battery that promises up to 160 hours of standby time and up to 3.5 hours of talktime. Micromax has preloaded the device with apps such as Hike, Opera, Spuul, Game HUB, Kingsoft Office and M! Live. It could also get BBM pre-installed, as per a deal between BlackBerry and the Indian company. It has been raining budget phones lately and the Bolt A61 will have a tough time in the market with these specs. Earlier this week we saw entry-level phones from Karbonn and iBall. We also saw Micromax launch the A77 Canvas Juice with 3000 mAh battery for Rs 7,999. The A77 sports a 5-inch FWVGA display and is powered by a dual-core 1.3GHz MediaTek 6572 processor with 1GB RAM. Some other specs include 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera, 4GB onboard storage and microSD card slot.
