Google reopens registrations for Glass Explorer Program

Google seems to be opening up the Glass Explorer Program for more people. The company has opened up a sign-up page where residents of the US can enter their details and be added in the list of the next people that will be getting the Explorer Edition of Google Glass. Sadly enough, it is restricted to US residents only, and the form even includes a country selector so that users can confirm they are in the country. Curiously, if you enter the name of some other country in the form, the website says that the company will keep you informed about updates from Glass. The company is on the verge of releasing a new version of Glass. It had teased the updated Glass back in October, and had stated that those using the current Explorer Edition Glass can opt for a free swap-out programme when the hardware upgrade is finally released.

Glass can be coupled with existing eyewear

Now US residents can sign up to get in line for Glass!

And the hardware upgrades are pretty nifty too. Google will "be offering a one-time optional swap out for Explorers who purchased their device before October 28, 2013. This hardware update will allow your Glass to work with future lines of shades and prescription frames, and we'll also include a mono earbud." The fact that Google Glass will finally be compatible with prescription glasses should be a huge source of relief for many users. The Explorer Program, according to Google, is going really well. To that effect, the company has announced that it will be expanding the project beyond its current scope. Google Glass owners will now be able to invite three other friends to join as Explorers. We saw the Search giant testing this approach out earlier as well, albeit on a limited basis.
