Google Play Store now has section displaying apps 'designed for tablets'

Google has started rolling out some previously announced changes to its Google Play Store, in order to ensure a smooth experience for its users. The new change is particularly for tablet users. Firstly, users who access the Google Play Store from their tablets will be able to see the “Designed for tablets” section. Tablet users can see it as a default view, which highlights apps and games that look great on tablets. However, they can choose to switch to “see all apps or games” mode as well, if they wish to.

So, what about apps that are not customised for tablet viewing? These apps will be placed under the section called “Designed for phones” for those who are browsing the Play Store on their tablets. This will help tablet users switch easily between applications that are optimised for tablets and other important ones that are not. Through its official Android Developers blog, Google has asked developers to check if their app can be included in the "Designed for tablets" section via the Developer Console. “If you see any issues listed, you’ll need to address them in your app and upload a new binary for distribution. When there are no more issues listed, your app is eligible for the ‘Designed for tablets’ view,” the blog states. The changes have already started rolling out, so you can head to the Google Play Store to see which apps are optimised for your tablet.
