Google Play Music comes to iOS with free All Access for a month, and a big drawback

Right from May this year we’ve been hearing about Google Play Music making its way to iOS devices. After a string of rumours, it is now officially available for download from Apple App Store. Google is offering one month of free access to Play Music All Access and the service will cost $9.99 per month thereafter. This is similar to the price for the already-existing Android and web apps. The iOS Play Music sports a refreshing look with a newer, flatter logo than its other avatars. The app allows access to users’ own music collection as well as music purchased or uploaded to Google's cloud. Moreover, the All Access pass allows you to stream from any of 20 million tracks in Google's database.

Coming to iOS soon!

Now available for iOS

Purchased music can be saved on the iPhone for offline playback. It can be played through any AirPlay or Bluetooth devices, and includes recommended music lists as well as Radio feature. However, the big caveat is that users can’t purchase new music or start an All Access subscription directly through the iOS app. This could be due to a number of reasons and we reckon had Google allowed purchasing music, it would have led to some interesting discussion among the Cupertino higher ranks. At the moment, users can purchase music on web which will be synced to the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Other features like the 'I feel lucky' radio player option have also been left on the cutting floor. It remains to be seen whether this will be coming to the app. So will you be trying out Google Play Music and All Access on your iPhone?
