Dishonored developers to use CryEngine for next game

Game development studio Arkane made quite a name for itself with last year's Dishonored. The company is supposedly working on a new project, but reports have surfaced stating that it won't be using the Unreal Engine like it did on Dishonored. Instead, it will be using an engine we've rarely seen a third-party studio use — CryEngine. The rumours came up through the Twitter account of Arkane's HR manager Ashley Pierce, who posted a couple of job listings, according to IGN."BattleCry & Arkane are developing on @cryengine & hiring! Gameplay, Graphics, Platform, Server, Web Engineers: http://bit.ly/fEAvP2," says a tweet. Another one says, "Arkane is looking for a strong Tech Artist to join our Austin team. Develop tech guidelines, dive deep in @cryengine! http://bit.ly/17fNbGL". Both of the tweets mention CryEngine.

Imagine this explosion with MEGATEXTURES!

BattleCry is a studio founded by BioWare veteran Rich Vogel. Currently, information on the studio’s project is still sparse, but it is evident from the tweets that it will be using CryEngine as well.Sadly enough, parent company Bethesda hasn’t commented on Arkane’s next project. We’re hoping it’s a next-gen title that takes the Dishonored formula and improves upon it, maybe with more interesting magic elements and an expansion on Dishonored’s lore.Arkane’s claim to fame was the critically and financially successful Dishonored, which aimed to bring the stealth genre back into the limelight after the foundations for it were laid by Square Enix’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The company managed to pull it off quite spectacularly, as you can see in our review.
