Blizzard kicks off beta sign-ups for Heroes of the Storm

At Blizzcon this year, Blizzard has announced that its upcoming DotA-styled game, Heroes of the Storm, will be entering closed beta soon. The company has started off the sign-up process for the game, which simply involves changing your Battle.net account’s beta preferences. You can do that from the game's official website.Blizzard’s MOBA game has been in development from quite some time now, and the company hasn’t revealed any details other than its name and the fact that it will have characters from the Diablo, Warcraft and StarCraft mythos as playable heroes.

The new name has the same abbreviation as StarCraft 2's most recent expansion pack

Heroes of the Storm is closer to completion than we originally thought

Originally, Blizzard's MOBA was announced as a map for StarCraft 2 to show off the game's modding capabilities. However, the idea was later dropped in favour of a standalone game, especially after the success seen by Valve's Dota 2 and Riot's League of Legends.Earlier, the game was called Blizzard All-Stars. However, the company announced the game’s new name back in October along with a video. The animation style has aimed more for the "cute" than the "badass" side of the spectrum. An orc from Warcraft comes into the scene and nails a sign on the ground which says "Blizzard Dota". StarCraft's Jim Raynor enters the scene by shooting the sign, turning its text into "Blizzard All-Stars". The Demon Hunter form Diablo 3 jumps in and kicks off a Mexican stand off between the three, when suddenly, lightning strikes, revealing the game's new name.
