Everyone’s waiting for BioWare’s next game, Dragon Age: Inquisition, but the studio has been quiet about it. It appears that some footage has popped up, and according to Eurogamer, it was apparently recorded at Finnish show DigiExpo. Luckily enough, the video hasn’t been taken down yet, and it’s quite a lengthy one, clocking in at almost 32 minutes. The video gives us the best look at the upcoming fantasy RPG that we’ve ever gotten.
The gameplay footage seems to be pre-alpha, so it's far from ready. It does, however, look quite good. In the video, you can check out the conversation system, the new environments and the combat system. Visually, the game looks quite impressive, and we can see the Frostbite engine being put to good use.
The combat seems to have shifted away from the tactics-based system of Dragon Age: Origins, and has instead gone further in the direction of the fast-paced action-centric system of Dragon Age 2. The conversation system is also the same as Dragon Age 2, which in turn was picked up from sci-fi RPG series Mass Effect. The game also appears to be much more open-ended when compared to earlier entries in the series, complete with a Skyrim-styled compass at the top of the screen.Dragon Age is set in a dark fantasy universe that is more or less a deconstruction of typical high fantasy, like Lord of the Rings. The world is under threat by an evil subterranean race known as the Darkspawn. Sometimes, the Darkspawn tend to form armies and attack the surface world en-masse. This event is known as the Blight and is one of the worse things that the surface races have to face. In response to the Blight, the Grey Wardens were formed. The Grey Wardens is a group of the best fighters and spell casters in the world and its specific job is to combat the Blight.
