Zynga releases free-to-play MOBA Solstice Arena on Steam

The recent success of the MOBA genre is undeniable, and Zynga seems to be keen to hop on to the bandwagon. The company has released its MOBA title, Solstice Arena, on the PC. The game can be downloaded from digital distribution platform Steam, and is free-to-play. It features an in-game store with microtransactions. Zynga claims that Solstice Arena is the world’s first “Speed MOBA”. It has 3 versus 3 combat, a player versus player mode and co-op or single player mode with bots. Heroes can be customised with either pre-made recommended builds or completely custom ones to suit specific playing styles. When characters level up, players can spend upgrade points to enhance their abilities. Heroes themselves belong in one of five disciplines—Sun, Moon, Earth, Iron and Void. These disciplines decide the heroes’ abilities and attributes.

It also allows the transfer of progress between the platforms. With the Solstice Arena, Zynga is undoubtedly trying to grab some of the market share which is currently dominated by Valve’s Dota 2 and Riot’s League of Legends. It features the typical MOBA gameplay of having two teams duke it out till one of them destroys the others’ base. All three of mentioned games are free-to-play games.
