Sony has now announced the launch of the latest addition to its line-up of 4K home cinema projectors, the VPL-VW500ES. The company, while talking about the features of the new projector, has said that the device will deliver the 4K experience through its 4K SXRD panels which are capable of producing DCI based 4096x2160 resolution.The device also comes with the latest HDMI 2.0 standard to accommodate 4K/60P content for smoother video sequences without the need for any electronic enhancements of the pixels. The company has also said that home users will be able to enjoy 4K picture quality with their current collection of Blu-ray discs in Full HD due to the projector’s Super Resolution 4K Reality Creation upscaler.

The projector also comes with a 4K up-scaling algorithm that has customised for “Mastered in 4K” Blu-ray discs from the company’s entertainment wing. In terms of picture quality, the projector comes with 1700 ANSI-lumen brightness, 200000:1 contrast ratio as well as the company’s patent Triluminos display technology. The projector also comes with a front air exhaust cooling system, which will allow users to maximise the throw distance for a larger projected image with a wide shift range. Sony has said that the projector also comes with a 2.06 zoom powered lens with a wide shift range that negates the need for additional platform extensions in ceiling mounts when setting up in rooms with high ceilings. The device also comes with a built-in RF transmitter that provides further installation flexibility with a strong wireless signal for wider coverage. The Sony VPL-VW500ES 4K projector has been priced at Rs 7,99,000, and can be picked up from authorised distributors and dealers. The company has said that the new projector will available in the market in November.
