OS X Mavericks is a free upgrade for Mac users

Apple has released the OS X Mavericks at its fall event yesterday. It has announced that the latest iteration of the operating system will be available for free from the Mac App Store. OS X 10.9 Mavericks promises to be a lot faster and more efficient than its predecessor OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. The company has said that there are more than 200 new features in the updated OS and it brings iBooks and Maps to the Mac as well as a new version of Safari. Mavericks will enhance multi-display support as well as have Finder Tabs and Tags. The Tabs and Tags help you unclutter the desktop, and search and organise your files. iBooks is a great application to have on the Mac and Mavericks has finally brought it to the device. The Maps app will let you plan your trip on your Mac and send instructions to your iPhone for the trip. Mavericks also brings along a streamlined Calendar as well as the iCloud Keychain which lets you safely store passwords, credit card numbers and more. There also are interactive notifications for your Mac now, allowing you to reply to a message, respond to a FaceTime call or even delete an email without leaving the app you’re using.

Mavericks delivers performance enhancement to Macs with integrated graphics through optimised OpenCL support and dynamic video memory application. OS X Mavericks is available as a free download from the Mac App Store right away. Any Mac that can run OS X Mountain Lion can also run Mavericks. You can upgrade to Mavericks for free directly from OS X Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion. OS X Server 3.0 is also available from the Mac App Store for Rs 1,100 and requires Mavericks to run.
