Nexus 5 leak says touchless voice control and full cloud backup coming to Android

The Nexus 5 news just keeps on coming. New details and photos have now surfaced about both the forthcoming smartphone as well as Google’s brand new OS, Android 4.4 KitKat, with many sources claiming that they were able to get a hands-on with the new device. The sources, which include a Google+ profile page, an Italian and German website as well as Reddit, all seem to corroborate what we have heard so far about the new smartphone. The LG-made Nexus 5 will come with a 4.95-inch 1080p HD screen, will sport a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU along with Adreno 330 graphics and run on Android 4.4.

A host of sources now claim to have done a hands-on with the Nexus 5

The sources also state that an always-on microphone for touchless voice control is present; a feature earlier seen on the Moto X. There is also mention of a full backup solution that might be similar to Apple’s iCloud. From what can be seen from the images, it looks like the handset bears some resemblance to the LG G2, especially the rounded corners and a matte black back panel. The version, however, does not come with the G2’s back controls for volume and power. The image that one of the sources came up with looks like a dummy version of the Nexus 5, though, so we cannot validate if the final product, when it launches, will look the same way. Reddit user bckbck/throwawaynexus5guy, in a “Nexus 5 AMA”, has said that the device will give 17 hours of talk time, eight hours of Web surfing and six hours of video playback. This data can only be confirmed once the smartphone is tested, so it would be wise to take this news with a bit of skepticism. The price of the device, from what we know so far, should range in the $349 bracket for the unlocked version. While there is no official news on when the device will be rolled, there is a lot of speculation that the Nexus 5 may be seen in on November 1. Let's hope that's true and Google will be putting us out of this misery by officially announcing the phone.
