Nexus 5 and Android KitKat to launch on October 15, say Google Launchpad devs

A lot has been said and written about the Nexus 5, ever since it made a dramatic appearance in the Android KitKat promo video last month. From being spotted in a bar showing off the Android 4.4 boot screen to leaked documents disclosing its design and specs, we've seen it all. Now, everyone is waiting for some official word on its release date. It was earlier rumoured for an October end launch, but new reports suggest its mostly likely to be launched on October 15. Earlier, Nestle's Facebook page had disclosed that Android KitKat will be announced in October.

According to TechManiacs, some developers present at the boot camp around the workshops and networking events have been told that the launch date for both Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat is October 15. However, there is no word on when the Nexus 5 will be made available for consumers. Speculations are rife that it may be made available on the Google Plat Store on October 31.

Is this the Nexus 5?

Coming on October 15?

This bit of news comes from Google Launchpad, a two-week boot camp for developers to share ideas and their work. It is an initiative by Google for early stage startups to help them with subjects such as user interface, product strategy and technology, marketing, business development and more. The report also states that the developers present at the boot camp overheard the pricing scheme for the Nexus 5 which is not likely to be priced over 300 euros (approx Rs 25,000). While nothing is confirmed yet, most of the specs of the Nexus 5 are out in the form of leaks and rumours. It is likely to feature a 4.95-inch 1080p IPS TFT display, 8MP OIS rear snapper, 1.3MP front-facing camer, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. You can also check out the first high-res render of the phone, teased by case-maker Spigen earlier this week.
