The curved smartphone race seems to be heating up. Following up to Samsung’s announcement of the Galaxy Round, a few press renders of LG’s upcoming entry into the curved handset arena have now surfaced. The images, courtesy Engadget, suggest that the new device will be called G Flex. The new leak also helps to corroborate what we have been hearing so far about the new LG device. LG had earlier admitted that it has started the mass production of its bendable and durable display panels. The new images now show off the handset slated to come with the new technology. The source, along with the press renders, has also claimed that the new device will be coming out next month. Details about the price, availability or even the specifications of the same are still lacking at this time.

From the images, it looks like the G Flex will offer a top-to-bottom curved display, confirmed what we have heard so far. This is different from the Galaxy Round, which offers a curve from left-to-right. Earlier reports had also indicated that the new panel will be a massive 6-inches in length. While there is no way to confirm the official date, it definitely looks like LG is gearing up for the new device. Another report had earlier shown that LG Chem was already in the process of mass producing curved batteries for handsets and wearables. The new tech will definitely be seen in the G Flex, whenever it comes around. So what is your opinion? Do you think that you will be picking up a curved smartphone? Let us know.
