Google Maps brings back multi-destination support and adds Google Now-style cards

Google had completely redesigned its Maps for the web and mobile platforms earlier this year. Along with a revamped interface and some nifty changes, it had dropped some important features like the multi-destination trips. Now based on feedback received from users, the company has decided to bring it back.

Users who want to add a new location to their route will have to simply click the tiny “+” sign which is below the list. On getting all the directions/routes, one can simply drag it up or down depending upon the order of the places they want to visit. Basically, it lets users add additional legs to their trip.

Along with this, Google will also be rolling out Google Now-style cards that can add details within Maps. So, searching for a flight schedule or hotel will bring up connected reservations for that location. If a person searches for music or sports venues then a card will bring up the upcoming events for their information. This is something we’ve seen in Google Search, but has now become a part of Maps too. This feature is currently rolling out to Maps users in the US only. While giving its Maps application a facelift in May, the company had also introduced a new five-star review system for places. The feature allows user to rate places in Google Maps out of five stars. There will also be professional reviews from Zagat, but users can leave their own impressions about, for example, a new eating joint.Google Maps is still in beta, and we could possibly see some more tweaks in the near future.
