Facebook testing new 'Like' button for websites

It looks like Facebook is up to its tweaking ways again. Not one to sit down and maintain status quo, it looks like Facebook is testing a shiny new “Like” button that gets dollops of the social network’s blue paint on it. Official Wire has reported that some users are beginning to see a new Like button. This, however, is not a part of the social networking website itself, but is seen on websites that allow you to like them or their stories on Facebook. Say, for example, you wish to Like this article, the button that you’re used to seeing will be replaced by this new one.

Darken the Like

The old button – which is still a part of most websites – has a light blue background with a “Like” symbol of a thumbs up, or a dark blue Facebook icon with the word Like on it. The newer button will have a typical Facebook coloured dark blue icon with the icon or a thumbs-up sign in white with the text in the same colour. Essentially, writes The Next Web, this will affect only the website plugin and not Facebook itself. The social networking website has confirmed that it is testing this new Like button but did not reveal much. "We’re constantly testing new products but have nothing further to share at this time,” a spokesperson gave a template reply. When the new button does rollout, it will stand apart from the usual bar of share buttons we’ve come to notice on websites, since most of them have lighter backgrounds. Let us know in the comments section below if you’re already seeing the new button.
