While it’s no secret that Capcom is bringing massive changes to Street Fighter 4 with Ultra, the company has been pretty quiet about it so far. Now, it has released a video that explains a couple of new features that will be making it to Ultra Street Fighter 4. In the video, the features are explained by Senior Online Community Specialist Peter “Combofiend” Rosas. Check it out:
Both the new features don’t simply add to players’ arsenal, but they have the potential to change how the game is played to a massive extent. Earlier, players could only pick one of two ultra combos for their characters. The ability to pick both of them with a trade off in damage is quite a game changer and will bring more versatility. On the defensive side of things, Rosas showed off red focus, which has the ability to absorb entire combos instead of the original focus attack’s ability to only absorb one attack. The update will be available to players for $14.99 (Rs 900 approx) digitally. It will also be sold as a standalone game for $39.99 (Rs 2,400 approx). The standalone version of the update will include all the DLC characters that have been released for the game so far as well as all the DLC characters that will be making it to the game in the future.
Red focus will still retain all of regular focus' vulnerabilities
The new characters in the update are Rolento, Poison, Hugo, Elena and a mysterious fifth character. This fifth character will be a completely original one, designed from scratch. These characters are making their appearance in a mainline Street Fighter game after a long time. Four of these characters have already made it to another recent fighting game—Street Fighter X Tekken. However, X Tekken plays vastly differently from Street Fighter 4. Elena, Hugo and Poison made their last appearance in a mainline Street Fighter game back in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.
