A couple of weeks after spectacularly failing to launch the BlackBerry Messenger application on Android and iOS platforms, it looks like BlackBerry has resumed the closed beta testing of the application on Android again. According to a report by IBNLive.com and inputs from Twitter, members of the closed beta group earlier testing the BlackBerry Messenger application on Android are reporting that the Canadian company seems to be testing the application all over again. The version they’ve been given to try out seems to be a brand new one, according to Android Central.
Tests begin again
Users have reported that the new version of the beta testing application is now sporting an overall refreshed UI as well as new improvements. Reports also suggest that BlackBerry has gone ahead and turned off the notification icon that had been causing testers angst earlier. BlackBerry was supposed to release BBM for Android and iOS late in September but had to pause the global rollout. The pause was blamed by BlackBerry on issues caused due to a leaked version of the application being downloaded off a file-sharing website. While Android users kept installing the leaked APK even before BBM for Android was officially released, BlackBerry started to encounter problems with messages. As a result, it ended up halting the release of the application not only on Android but also on iOS.

Just last week, BlackBerry assured users that it was “committed” to bringing BBM to Android and iOS but did not give a particular timeframe for the app release. The continuation of the beta testing on Android is indicative that BlackBerry seems to have stopped its freefall and is trying to gain control of the situation. Hopefully, extensive beta testing and the ability to deal with leaks will let BlackBerry launch BBM for Android and iOS successfully this time around.
