Microsoft has announced that results from Pinterest boards will now appear on Bing’s image search results. Called Image collections, the feature will showcase images from Pinterest boards alongside image results when you search now. In a blog post announcing the new Pinterest tie-up, Jon Noronha, Nevin Yang and Deepak Santhanam, Program Managers for Bing Image Search wrote that while Bing has been committed to make searching for images better, the team started to notice that the most interesting images were being collected by people and not computers.
Results from Pinterest to make your search interesting
“On sites like Pinterest, passionate curators can build up a collection of ideas that shows off their unique style. We started to ask ourselves, what if we could have the best of both worlds, combining the power of algorithms with the taste and judgment of real people,” they wrote. So now when you search for something that has a slight creative bent like “Wedding hairstyles” or “Garden decorations” on Bing, besides the regular results from the web, you will see results from curated Pinterest boards alongside the results. This is not the first time Pinterest and Bing have collaborated over a feature, Earlier this year, Microsoft had announced that it was making pinning from Bing simpler with a new feature. The “Pin to Pinterest” feature on Bing image search allows users to pin image results to the social pinning website directly with a single click. Bing and Pinterest’s relationship has now gone on to the next level with results from Pinterest popping up on Bing image search too. This may be a good time to shift search engines if you’re a Pinterest aficionado.
