Apple launches thinner, lighter iPad Air

Apple has taken the wraps off the new iPad, dubbed iPad Air. The newest iteration of the tablet comes with a number of changes under the hood, including more power packed into it along with the new A7 chip, which is the same one in the iPhone 5s. It also has the M7 co-processor for motion detection. The display itself is the same 9.7-inch we've come to know from the previous iPads. Of course, being a new Apple device, it will come with iOS 7 out of the box.The new iPad also got a major facelift. Gone or the thick bezels we saw in iPads of the past. Instead, it more-or-less looks like a bigger version of the iPad mini, which has much thinner bezels on the size when compared to full sized ones. According to Apple, the bezel is 43 percent thinner, and the iPad itself is 7.5mm thin, which is 20 percent thinner than the current iPad.

It is equipped with a 5 megapixel iSight camera, which is capable of recording HD videos at 1080p. The front has an HD FaceTime camera with “larger pixels”. The camera sensors also have improved backside illumination, along with dual microphones for sound recording and noise cancellation. All of this can supposedly stay alive for ten hours at a stretch before running out of juice, according to Apple.It's got quite a hefty price tag. It will be replacing last year's iPad with a price tag of $499 (Rs 30,760 approx) for the 16GB model. The cellular version will be priced at $629 (Rs 38,770 approx). The iPad 2, meanwhile, is staying at the same old price $399 price tag.
