Samsung working on a new premium smartphone lineup, code-named Project F

Samsung seems to be on a roll. From smartphones with flexible display to new 64-bit processing chips, the company seems to be busy working on newer technologies. Now, news has it that Samsung is also working on a new premium F smartphone series. Korean media has been reporting about the "Project F" by the company, which will offer premium smartphones with metal chassis and 16MP OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera.

No more plastic

The F series smartphones are likely to sport 4.5 to 5.5 inches screen sizes with flexible displays, Exynos Octa processors and up to 16MP OIS camera. The premium smartphone will definitely come at a premium price. So, it is speculated that mass production of the flexible YOUM screen shouldn’t be an issue. With the new premium series, the company is probably looking at catering to all budget segments, from low-cost affordable to uber-expensive premium class. There are also reports claiming that Samsung has started looking for supplies of metal casing for its Galaxy S5. However, it is not clear if these metal casings are for S5 or the new F lineup or both. It is interesting that Samsung seems to be going all-metal, while Apple has adopted plastic body for its not-so-budget iPhone 5c.
