Nvidia has announced that it has opened up its Grid platform to businesses in India. Thanks to the platform, businesses can now deploy graphics-accelerated virtual desktops to their employees on any device from anywhere. Servers from Cisco, Dell, HP and IBM, among others, are now incorporating Grid into their desktop virtualisations. Software for this is provided by Citrix, Microsoft and VMware. Nvidia’s Grid technology enables employees to use their own notebooks and portable devices to access all their office productivity and design applications virtually – just as they would at their desks, as long as they are connected to the Internet.Prior to NVIDIA GRID, desktop virtualization technologies were limited by performance and compatibility constraints that severely compromised applications for building information management, product-lifecycle management and video and photo editing.
Grid is now open for businesses

Our users are some of the most talented artists and engineers you’d find,” said Pradeep Nair, Managing Director of Autodesk India and SAARC. “With Nvidia Grid, our customers can get the rich visual Autodesk experience, essentially anywhere, on any client computer they choose to use.”Recent announcements such as the IBM Flex, HP WS460c Gen8 and Fujitsu Celsius R930 bring the total number of Grid-enabled server platforms to 25.Earlier, Nvidia had demonstrated the abilities of Grid for gaming. With the Grid platform, gaming-as-a-service providers can deliver the most advanced visuals with lower latency, while incurring lower operating costs, particularly related to energy usage.
