Looks like, Chinese manufacturer BBK is adding some groundbreaking features to its upcoming Vivo-branded smartphone, the Xplay 3S. Spotted by GSMInsider, Vivo has posted an image giving us a glimpse of the Xplay 3S on Weibo. The company has further added the hashtag #VivoXplay3S to confirm the name of the phone. The image does add some new information to the earlier rumours about the Xplay 3S's insane specs, which were also leaked on Weibo.
So what's so special about the Xplay 3S? It's set to be the first phone in the world to break past 1080p resolution. That's right the Xplay 3S will feature 2K resolution or a crazy 2560x1440 pixel resolution. That's not all. If you look closely at the below teaser you will notice that the Xplay 3S follows the latest trend of a fingerprint scanner. The scanner is close to the camera lens and LED flash on the back. Though, you may not notice it at a glance. Reportedly, the smartphone will break the 500ppi pixel density barrier, with its 5.7-inch screen. That's a PPI of 515, if you were wondering. The display panel is said to be sourced from either LG Display or Japan Display.

The fingerprint scanner means the Vivo handset will now join the iPhone 5s and HTC One Max, which are among the first modern smartphones to feature the security feature. The fingerprint sensor will most likely be swipe-style, just like the one seen in the One Max and 5s. Xplay 3S' specs aren’t official yet, so the touted 2K resolution could just be a big hoax. The other rumoured specs aren't too shabby either. Under the hood, one can expect a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, and coupled with 3GB of RAM. On the camera front, it is likely to feature a 13-megapixel rear snapper and 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It is expected to have a 3,000 mAh battery as well, to round out the high-end specs.
