SugarSync, our favourite online file synchronisation service, will no longer be available for free.
The service used to offer 5GB of sync space for no charge, and would let you upload any folder on your PC to the Cloud and sync with multiple PCs (as opposed to Dropbox, which only offers a single synchronised folder).
However, new customers can now only sign up for a 30-day trial, and existing users of the free service have been informed that they will need to start paying from 8th February 2014.
The cheapest package is 60GB for $7.49 a month (around £5) or around £50 a year, and existing customers who sign up for a plan before 16th December will be eligible for a 75% discount on any annual plan.
This is good value for the service's flexibility, but it will be a blow to those who only used the service to synchronise documents, for whom 5GB was plenty of space.
