Samsung unveils Galaxy J with Snapdragon 800, 13MP camera in Taiwan

As expected, Samsung has announced the Galaxy J smartphone for the Taiwanese market, after first launching it in Japan, earlier this year. Based on the Galaxy S4 with an updated design and a flatter profile, the Galaxy J will be available at 21,900 NTD (approximately Rs. 45,356) without contract. The smartphone will be available in red and white colours in Taiwan, while another Blue variant will be a Japan exclusive. The phone will reportedly (Chinese website) be in stores by late December or early January. The Samsung Galaxy J was first announced in October this year under NTT DoCoMo's winter smartphone range for Japan only. The Samsung Galaxy J runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box and is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor, much like the LTE versions of Galaxy Note 3 and S4. Up front there’s a 5-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display and on the back is a 13.2-megapixel rear camera with BSI CMOS sensor and LED flash. The secondary camera on the front is a 2.1-megapixel affair.

The Galaxy J comes with a healthy 3GB of RAM, one of the few smartphones to sport this configuaration. There’s 32GB of internal storage further expandable by up to 64GB thanks to the microSD card. Just like the S4, this one has a 2600mAh battery, which should be good enough is the S4’s battery life is anything to go by. Connectivity options include the usual 3G, LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, and NFC.Here are the key specs of the Galaxy J once again

There’s no word about the Galaxy J’s availability outside Taiwan or Japan at the moment, but it could see an international unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, next month.
