Unboxing the Wickedleak Wammy Titan 3

Back from a long hiatus, Wickedleak recently announced a brand new addition to their line-up. There’s no other way to put it but the Wammy Titan 3 appears to be blatant rip-off of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, at least cosmetically. The company seems to have a fetish for Samsung handsets as most of their previous smartphones and tablets has either resembled Galaxy phones or were exact clones. The Titan 3 aims at offering a Note3-like look and feel but for less than half the price. To be honest, it’s really tough to tell the two apart as it’s nearly identical to Samsung's flagship. It even has a similar heft and feel of the Note 3, which we’re guessing wasn’t hard to replicate given the original was made of all-plastic as well. Wickedleak has even gone and copied the environmentally friendly box that the Note 3 came in. The specifications behind the box have also been “inspired” from the Korean phone maker. However, amidst this inspiration, Wickedleak has forgotten to change some of the specifications before it went to print as it still reads ‘Super AMOLED’ when the display is clearly an IPS one.

Note 3 for the masses

On paper, the Titan 3 is well spec’d out. It features a 5.7-inch, Full HD IPS panel along with Dragontrail glass for protection. The handset is powered by a 1.5GHz Mediatek MT6589T quad-core chipset and 1GB of RAM. There’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and 16GB of onboard storage. This can be expanded further via the microSD card slot. The Titan 3 is a dual-SIM handset and other connectivity options like Wi-Fi ‘n’, Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone also packs in a 3200mAh Li-Polymer battery which should give us good back up time. There’s no S Pen-like stylus however nor is there any IR port, like the Note 3. The phone comes bundled with a smart cover which, unsurprisingly, looks exactly like the cover of the Note 3. Last but not least, the Titan 3 packs in a 13MP camera in the back and a 5MP front-facing shooter. For Rs 16,990, the Wammy Titan 3 makes a very interesting case for itself. There’s a reason why Wickedlead has painstakingly gotten the Titan 3 to look and feel exactly like the Note 3. There’s a huge audience for Samsung’s tablet-sized phone but only a small percentage can actually afford to shell out a month’s salary (even two) for it. The Titan 3 is aimed at those who love and want the Note 3 but can’t afford it. As long as the sales of Titan 3 doesn’t affect Samsung’s earnings, we don’t think they’ll be bothering to sue them for the countless copyright infringements. We’ll be testing the Titan 3 over the coming weeks and bring you a full review soon.
