HTC is appealing a court injunction which called for a ban on the sales of its HTC One Mini handset in the UK, giving those who want to pick one up a last-minute chance to do so before sales become illegal.
HTC received an injunction from the court earlier this month following claims by rival Nokia that the handset infringed selected patents held by the company. Accordingly, the court issued an injunction banning the sales of the HTC One Mini in the UK, forcing retailers to pull the device from shelves.
HTC has now appealed the case, and as a result the injunction has been stayed until the new hearing on the 12th of December. Until that time, retailers will be able to continue to sell HTC One Mini handsets that are already in their inventories, but will not be able to order more once stock is exhausted unless HTC can successfully appeal the injunction.
A more pocket-friendly alternative to the company's flagship HTC One, the HTC One Mini scored highly in our review back in July for its high-quality screen and excellent implementation of Google's Android operating system with HTC's custom Sense UI overlay. While it was a recommended Best Buy at the time, anyone on the fence about buying the handset should make their mind up by the appeal hearing on Thursday - after which time the injunction is likely to return and the handset to vanish from shop shelves.
