Apple working on larger, curved screens ready for the iPhone 6

Apple is apparently developing larger screens with curved glass and improved touch sensors that will be able to detect different levels of pressure, potentially for inclusion in next year's iPhone 6.

According to Bloomberg, which spoke to a "person familiar with [Apple's] plans", two iPhone models are planned for release in the second half of next year. Both will include larger screens than the current iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, with 4.7in and 5.5in suggested.

If accurate, these rumoured screen sizes would directly compete with Android smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, which already dwarf the current generation iPhone.

The glass would curve downward at the edges, rather than show a distinct curve like Samsung's Galaxy Round or the LG G Flex. It would likely give the handset a more pebble-like feel, with rounded edges that don't dig into your hands like the angular lines of the current iPhone.

With a release date not expected until next September, and Apple being notoriously secretive when it comes to new products, we've got a long wait to see whether these rumours prove accurate.
