Android 4.3 could be headed to Note 2 users soon

Soon after the launch of Android 4.3 in August, Samsung confirmed that the new OS would be available for the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S3 and the Note 2. Since then, there have been reports of the update hitting both the Galaxy S3 as well as the international variant of the Galaxy S4. The update for the Note 2, however, was conspicuous by its absence, at least until now. A new report from SamMobile suggests that Samsung’s service centers already have access to the update, and one India user was able to get his Note 2 updated from a local service center. The source, while quoting tweets put out by the user, claims that the build number of the firmware is N7100XXUEMJ9, and the build date is of October 31, suggesting that the build is the final version of the update being rolled out. It should be noted, though, that the user’s tweets have since been removed, making it hard to validate these claims.

Details about the extent of changes and new features rolling out via update are still lacking, although most of the changes seen in the update for the S3 as well as a few new features from the Note 3 for the S Pen can be expected. Support for Samsung’s new wearable device, the Galaxy Gear can also be expected.

While there is no confirmed news about this yet, it can be expected that the update will be rolled out to users over-the-air when the firmware officially becomes available. All in all, this could be good news for Note 2 users, as it could spell the end for their year-long wait to get their first major OS update.
