Vodafone Red 4G Bonus data extended

Vodafone has announced that its 4G Bonus programme, which gives anyone signing up to a 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) contract additional data allowances, has been extended through to early next year.

Originally scheduled to end this month, Vodafone's 4G Bonus gives anybody signing up to a Vodafone Red 4G contract an additional 4GB of data allowance on top of the usual allowance for that contract, for the entire length of the agreement. As a Red contract, users also receive a choice of Sky Sports Mobile or Spotify Premium membership included in the cost of the deal.

Vodafone's LTE network doesn't extend as far as rival EE's as yet, but the company has put forward an aggressive growth plan. The extension of the 4G Bonus programme will, the company hopes, encourage customers to sign up for a 4G contract over the lucrative Christmas sales period and help take some of the sting out of the price premium over 3G contracts.

The Red 4G contract pricing, with 4G Bonus, starts at £26 for a SIM-only contract, £34 a month for a 24-month contract with bundled LTE-enabled handset, or £52 a month for a 12-month contract with bundled handset. The contracts include double the data allowance of Vodafone's standard 3G contracts, even before the additional 4GB is taken into account, unlimited calls and texts, and unlimited UK data for the first three months of the contract.

Buyers interested in signing up for a Red 4G contract now have until the end of January 2014 to do so in order to obtain the 4G Bonus.
