Philips has announced that its Bluetooth-enabled Fidelio M1BT headphones are now on sale in the UK, bringing high-quality aptX Bluetooth to the Fidelio range for the first time.
The M1BTs are a Bluetooth variant of the Fidelio M1s we reviewed last year, retaining the same industrial design but cutting the cord in favour of Bluetooth audio and hands-free voice calls when paired with a compatible smartphone.
In gaining Bluetooth internals, on-ear controls and an internal battery, Philips has redesigned the 40mm neodymium speaker drivers to compensate for the reduced volume in each ear cup. Two felt covered bass ports replace the single bass pipe found in the M1.
Unlike many Bluetooth headphones, runni g out of battery doesn't have to mean going without music - there's still a 3.5mm audio jack in the ear cup to let you switch to wired playback if you haven't had time to charge your cans before leaving the house.
We were impressed with the build quality and design when we had a hands-on preview at this year's IFA show, but will have to wait until we get one in for review to judge it on sound quality.
You'll be able to pick up a pair of M1BT headphones from today onwards, with an RRP of £250.
