Google rolls out Android 4.4.2 KitKat with fixes for buggy previous version

If you were a little surprised about an update to Android KitKat, version 4.4.1 rolling out only about a month after v4.4’s release, there’s more in store for you. Google has reportedly started rolling out version 4.4.2 to some devices already.Earlier yesterday, rumours were doing the round that Google had already started prepping a KitKat 4.4.2 update for Android devices, less than a week after version 4.4.1 was released. An HTC leakster informed Gotta Be Mobile that HTC One Google Edition and maybe even the HTC One with Sense would be getting the update in the near future.

KitKat 4.4.2 coming up

Only a few hours later news started emerging that some devices – the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and the Nexus 4 – were starting to get the Android version 4.4.2 update already. Some users will reportedly skip the KitKat 4.4.1 stage to jump straight on to the latest update. The publication dug up a small change log from carrier Sprint’s support pages for Nexus 5 users that revealed fixes like clearing and delivering the VM Indicator. Additional security fixes and security enhancements were coming to KitKat 4.4.2 for Nexus 5 as well. These fixes could well come to other Nexus devices too. More confirmations of KitKat 4.4.2 are coming up from users of Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 devices already. Now, anyone who’s waited for an Android update will tell you that the rollout typically takes about a week or so to hit all devices. So, if you’ve been waiting patiently for the Android version 4.4.1 update, you may just be pushed to Android version 4.4.2 straight away. Being patient might just pay well here!
