Vauxhall Insignia 2014 UK deliveries begin

Vauxhall has officially begun deliveries of its Vauxhall Insignia 2014 model year range in the UK, following its unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year.

Launching in five-door Hatch, four-door Saloon and Sports Tourer estate variants, the new Vauxhall Insignia family comes with a welcome reduction in pricing that sees the entry-level model drop to £16,279 - almost £2,000 less than its equivalent in the outgoing model range.

Buyers have a choice of four new engines in the new model year line-up, including a 2.0-litre CDTi offering a 99g/km emissions rating and a 140PS power output aimed at high-mileage drivers and fleet purchasers, a high-end 2.0-litre SIDI turbo petrol offering 250PS power output, and a 1.6-litre SIDI turbo petrol option with a 170PS power output, in addition to improved versions of the company's existing diesel engine options.

Internally, the Vauxhall Insignia 2014 includes an all-new infotainment system boasting an 8" touch-screen control system with 3D navigation, voice control, and Bluetooth internet connectivity compatible with the majority of smartphones. Digital Media Broadcast (DMB) support, previously an optional upgrade, has also been made standard across the range for the 2014 model year.

The number of options on offer has been reduced, however - a move Vauxhall positions as a 'simplification'. Where the previous line-up had a total of 14 trims, the Vauxhall Insignia 2014 model year drops this to just eight - including the entry-level Design and top-end Elite trim levels. All trim levels come with Vauxhall's lifetime warranty, valid - unlike the name would suggest - up to 100,000 miles.

Additional improvements offered by the new model year Vauxhall Insignias include tweaked dampers, roll-bars and steering to reduce noise and vibration, completely new suspension control arms and carrier housings, and Electronic Power Steering (EPS) as standard in all but the VXR models with a reprogramme
