Rumoured HTC One successor 'M8' spotted

The HTC One Max was the Taiwanese company’s first foray into the phablet category and while the device was launched in India last month, new leaks indicate that HTC may already be at work on its next large-display bearing smartphone. The handset, which is slated to be unveiled next year, comes with the name M8, according to Chinese website VR Zone. The leak comes with a few leaked images, giving us a glimpse at the new device. The images show off the M8 sporting a blue tone similar to the design seen on the company’s current flagship, the HTC One. The leak also suggests that the new smartphone might come with a fully enclosed metal body including the sides, a trait that was earlier seen in the company’s range of One smartphones.

The images of the alleged handset show the rear panel of the M8 bearing the Beats audio logo at the bottom, indicating that the device might come with the Beats audio feature. While the images don’t reveal much else, another Chinese site, ePrice, gives us some details about the hardware specs of the HTC phablet. The expected list comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 3GB of RAM as well as the company’s Sense 6.0 UI. The site suggests that the device coming with either a 5-inch or a 5.2-inch display, making it slightly smaller than the One Max, which comes with a 5.9-inch screen. This is still bigger than the HTC One, though, which comes with a 4.7-inch screen. The site also suggests that the new handset could be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2014. Lending some credibility to this news is the fact the HTC One, prior to the official launch, came with the codename M7. There is no word from the source about the price tag of this new device, though, or which markets the company plans to launch the same in. While the device seems promising, it is important to note that there is still no word from HTC about the existence of this device.
