Nokia updates Music app for Windows Phone, renames it Nokia MixRadio

Nokia has released a big update to its Music app, completely rebranding it in the process. Nokia Music is now Nokia MixRadio that aims to bring personalised music to Lumia phones for free. According to the change-log on the Windows Phone store, Nokia MixRadio will let you listen to the music you want to hear with Play Me. As weird as the name may sound, it provides a constant stream of music created especially for the user. You can use Thumbs up or Thumbs down to tell the app what you like and dislike. Over time, the app’s algorithms will learn what you like and send you better songs. “It’s like having your own personal radio station,” reads the log.

You will be able to store your favourite mixes to your device so you can even listen to it when you’re not connected to the Internet. These mixes can also be shared with your friends on Facebook, Twitter as well as email and SMS.The service already boasts of 150 playlists made by Nokia’s “mixologists”. Nokia MixRadio will give users access to more than 18 million songs. Of course, there is provision for a premium service within the app. You can subscribe for unlimited downloads and more for $4 (Rs 250 approx.) a month. Download Nokia MixRadio for your Windows Phone 8 running Lumia devices from the Windows Phone Store.
