And here it is! Through its Android Google+ page, the search giant has announced that the new update will be reaching Play Editions of S4 and One starting today. The 300MB update is reportedly available as an over-the-air download. The Google Play Editions of the One and Galaxy S4 run on pure or stock Android OS, and do not come with additional Sense or TouchWiz layers from the manufacturers. They are made available unsubsidised and without any contract. Both devices had received the Android 4.4 update on the same day earlier in August. They now join the likes of the Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 10, and Nexus 4, among others, which have already started receiving the KitKat update.
