New leak shows the Sony Xperia Z1s, the international twin of Z1 f

Sony recently launched the Xperia Z1 f, the compact version of the company’s flagship device, the Z1, in Japan. Unfortunately, there has still not been any official word from the manufacturer about when the new handset will be seen in other markets. A new leak from prolific tipster @eveleaks, though, suggests that the compact smartphone may be coming with a variant called the Xperia Z1s, which could be targeted at other markets. The leak, apart from the name, came with a press image that looks identical to the new Z1 f. The leak, however, did not come with any other details or specifications, so it’s hard to say if the Z1s will come with the same hardware as the Z1 f. The latter has a pretty impressive specs list, though, coming with most of the features of the Z1, barring the larger display. A quick look at the specifications reveals that Sony’s latest device comes with a 4.3-inch Triluminos HD display with a pixel resolution of 720x1280 and the company’s X-Reality engine for Mobiles packed in. The handset comes with a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The Z1 f runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box and sports a single aluminum frame with tempered glass on the front and back panel.

The handset comes with 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card. Pride of place in the new device goes to the 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS sensor along with a BIONZ image processor engine and pulsed LED flash, the same that is seen on the Z1. Also packed in is a 2.2-megapixel front shooter. In terms of connectivity, all the usual suspects like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/GLONASS and NFC are supported. Rounding up the package is a 2300mAh battery. Like most other recent Sony smartphone releases, the Z1 f is water and dustproof. The leak lacked a specific timeframe for any kind of international release. The estimate price for the same has also not been mentioned. Sony officially launched the Z1 f in Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo’s winter smartphone line-up, and the device is expected to be released in late December this year. There is still no mention of the price yet.
