EA ends partnership with Tiger Woods, confirms next-gen PGA title

EA Sports has now announced that the world’s top-ranked golfer, Tiger Woods, will no longer be associated with its PGA Tour series. The franchise, which debuted in 1999, saw the sports icon lending his name to the title for almost 15 years. According to a post on the developer’s blog, Vice President and General Manager Daryl Holt has said that, "We've always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors." The announcement also saw the company confirming that a new PGA Tour game was in the pipeline, and shared the first screenshots of the new game. The title is currently being planned for the next-generation Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and mobile devices. The developers have also stated that the title will allow for greater customisation.

While talking about this, Holt said, "EA Sports golf fans have always loved authentic courses and players, but they've also asked for more choice and customisation in how and where they play. We're working on a new approach to deliver the best golf experience to our fans--we think you'll love it, and so we’re excited to share the first screenshot of our next generation golf game currently in development." The developer, however, did not give a possible release date for the new PGA Tour game, so fans of the franchise may have to wait a while. EA was last in the news when it was reported that the high-end title, Battlefield, may be making its way to mobile soon.
