App updates you should know: Vine, Tweetbot 3, Facebook for Android and more!

This week finally saw the highly anticipated BBM Messenger hit Android and iOS devices being launched. While users were busy ‘trying’ to beat the queue and get started on the app, a slew of other apps also received some nifty updates. Here's a quick look at all the app updates that were rolled out this week:Tweetbot 3 for iPhoneThe Twitter client for iOS, Tweetbot, has been updated to version three. Tweetbot 3 comes with a complete design overhaul and handy features for the newly introduced iOS 7. Users can save drafts, attach photos and videos, manage lists, add locations, POIs and more. Users can upgrade to this new version at and introductory price of $2.99, although the price will see a slight hike up later on, with new users needing to shell out $4.99. Vine Vine, the popular 6-second looping video app has released its latest 1.4 update for Android as well as iOS. The update adds two new features – Sessions and Time Travel. Sessions lets users save any post and come back to it later. On the other hand, time travel lets users remove, reorganise or replace any shot within a post before they share it. Download Vine for Android from Google Play store, and Vine for iOS from Apple App store. Viber for BlackberryViber has released a new version of its instant messaging app for BlackBerry. The update adds ‘seen status’ indicator that will let users know when the recipient reads their message. Apart from fixing some bugs, the app update also brings the ability to send images in chats, new privacy settings, custom location sharing and a revamped interface. TumblrAs Tumblr crossed 65 billion posts this week, it has announced some improvements for the service. It has completely rebuilt the Search feature to make it even more powerful. Tumblr has also tweaked the NSFW filtering which won’t block tags that are not natively explicit.


Facebook for AndroidFacebook has released a new update for its Android app that brings Pinterest, Flickr, Tumblr, and Instagram lock screen integration in Home. To get this new functionality, users will have to update both apps – Facebook and Facebook Home for Android from Google App Store.

Facebook Trending sectionsFacebook has recently been seen testing Twitter-like Trending Topics column. And it looks like the social giant might have finally started to roll out the trending section in India. @MrNarci tweets a screenshot of the Facebook trending section. Trending Topics, from what can be seen, will come as a seperate column listing out the most talked about topics on the social networking platform. There is no official word from Facebook about this, though, so users may have to wait for a while to see if the social network officially validates this.
