LG G2 available for preorder at Rs 40,490

LG’s much awaited smartphone, the G2, is slated to hit India today. Before the prospective launch, though, the device has now made an appearance on Flipkart for Rs 40,490. The device has also popped up for pre-order on online retailers Saholic as well as Infibeam. While the price tag on Saholic is similar to the Flipkart listing, with the handset coming with a price tag of Rs 40,499, Infibeam has listed the G2 with a price tag of Rs 43,490.

From what can be seen so far, only the 16GB version of the smartphone is up for pre-order and will be available in a black avatar on Flipkart. The phone has been listed as “Forthcoming” with an estimated release date, falling in the first week of October. Saholic, though, is offering the device in both black and white variants and is also offering a free delivery time starting from October 7. The company was last seen sending out invites for a press event in Delhi to be held on September 30 for the launch of the device. The G2 was officially unveiled last month and is heading for the US and German markets as well. Looking at the price seen, it is safe to say that the handset is being positioned to go head-to-head with the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One.

A quick look at the specifications reveals that the handset will come with an 8.9mm frame and will run on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. The G2 will sport a 5.2-inch full HD display and also pack Graphic (GRAM) technology to reduce the display’s energy use by up to 26 percent on a still frame. Internally, the smartphone packs a 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC with four Krait CPUs and 2GB of RAM. Rounding up the package for the G2 is a 3000mAh battery.

The main USP for the LG G2, in our books, is the button-less design on the edges as the volume and power buttons feature on the back of the phone. The smartphone comes with all the usual connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi, DLNA, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. The handset also comes with support for GPS with A-GPS as well as GLONASS. On the camera front, the G2 comes with a 13-megapixel autofocus primary camera as well as a 2.1-megapixel front shooter. The device also comes in 16GB and 32GB versions. With the India launch expected today, Indian users wanting to pick up this device will only have to wait a little longer. Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the LG G2:
