Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0: Install CWM/TWRP Custom Recovery

After you have rooted your Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, you might just stop here by doing nothing in advance or simply uninstall some bloatware pre-installed in your device. Or, you have better idea to have customized rom installed in your Galaxy Note 8.0 to make its user interface look like a brand new Sony Xperia Tablet Z. If you prefer later case, you might need to move further then just rooting your Galaxy Note 8.0, instead you have install custom recovery on it. Stock recovery cannot do much on flashing custom kernel or rom on your device, that’s why you need a custom recovery.BY themobilehub

1. Before You Begin:

  1. Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 – GT-N5100 3G/WIFI ,GT-N5110 WIFI Only
  2. Windows-based computer or laptop
  3. Download Samsung Note 8.0 USB driver for Windows and install in your computer.
  4. Skip this step if you have installed the Samsung Kies.
  5. Enable USB Debugging on your device.
  6. Make sure your phone is charged to 60% 80% to avoid battery blackout and interruption during this tutorial.
  7. We recommend you make a backup on your data and media files before the tutorial.

2. Downloading Required Files:

  1. ClockWorkMod (CWM) 6.03.2 Recovery
  2. TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP) 2.5.0 Recovery
  3. Odin 3.07.zip
3. Install Recovery in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0:
  1. Download and extract Odin3.07.zip in a folder in computer.
  2. Download CWM Recovery/TWRP Recovery in computerfrom above.
  3. Power off your device.
  4. Enter Download Mode by pressing and hold the Volume Down key, Home button, and Power button.
  5. You should see a warning triangle sign, press Volume Up to continue.
  6. You should see Odin Mode at the top and Downloading… , Do not turn off target!!
  7. Launch Odin executable file by double-clicking on Odin3 v3.07 exe.
  8. Connect your device to your computer with USB cable.
  9. Wait until Odin to show an “Added” message at the lower-left message box.
  10. After your device is detected by Odin, click on the PDA button and select the *.tar or *.tar.md5 (Downloaded Recovery file).
  11. Make sure the Repartition option is not checked under Options checked on Auto Reboot.
  12. Click Start button to flash *.tar or *.tar.md5 to your device. Monitor the flash progress on Odin.
  13. A green “PASS” message should show for a success flashing.
  14. Your device shall reboot automatically.
  15. To test if CWm Recovery or TWRP recovery is installed successfully, power off your device. Press and hold Volume Up key, Home button, and Power button. Your device should in the CWM recovery/TWRP recovery mode.
  16. If you fail to enter in CWM recovery/TWRP recovery mode or bootloop, try to flash back to stock recovery. Follow the Step 3 – Step 14 with Stock Recovery.
