One of the most highly-anticipated MMORPGs, EverQuest Next, has been quite an enigma so far. Aside from some minor details revealed by Sony Online Entertainment during the game's announcement, not much is known about it, or even its companion building game—EverQuest Next Landmark. The company has now released a video that shows off some of the creation tools that players will have access to in Landmark. Check it out:
When you begin the game, you will have a copper pick. The pick will let players get access to the tier one materials such as tin and iron, which can be turned into an iron pickaxe, which in turn fuels the next tier of equipment such as amethyst and silver. In total, there are five tiers of materials, each requiring progressively better tools to get access to.Sony had originally unveiled EverQuest Next back in August. The game will let players explore and interact with the world according to their own individual style of play. According to Sony Online Entertainment, the game doesn't have any levels. It will be launching with more than 40 distinct classes at first, each of which will have its own multi-tiered abilities and specialised weapon skills. Players can even mix and match abilities from different classes according to their own playing style.
Those are some very nice rocks you have there... it would be a shame if something were to happen to it...
Sony also claims that the game will feature destructible environments, which is a rarity in MMORPGs. According to the press release, every piece of the game's world is fully destructible and players can manipulate almost all of it. For example, players can reach the deep bedrock beneath the surface by using combat abilities to blow holes into the ground. The game will have a procedurally-generated world which goes both high in the sky and deep into the earth.
