Google has revealed information about the new update to Glass. The update, named XE11, will be getting a couple of new features, including the ability to search Google Calendar with voice commands such as "my agenda" or "what am I doing in November?". Another one of the new features is the ability to ask Glass for directions to home or work. This works by letting Google Maps know where you live and work. By using a command like "ok glass, get directions to home," users will be able to get instant directions. The update also introduces a redesign first-time setup. This is meant to ease new users into how Glass and its swipe commands on the touchpad work. The setup will also guide users on how to link Glass to the MyGlass companion app. The app itself is also getting a new "Start screencast" button in the notification drawer, which makes the feature more accessible.

In the update, Google has removed an old feature—the ability to activate Google Search by long-pressing the Glass touchpad. The feature was removed because, according to the company, too many people were complaining about accidentally triggering it. Google Search is still accessible by either tapping on the touchpad thrice or saying "ok glass, google..." from the home screen.Currently, Google is working on introducing a new version of Glass with a bunch of new features, such as improved hardware. The new Glass will also have a dedicated ear bud as well as support for prescription lenses. There is a possibility that the new Glass will be showcased to developers in some capacity at a hackathon scheduled for later this month.
