14 million copies of Diablo 3 sold till date

There’s no denying that Blizzard’s Diablo 3 was one of 2012’s most successful games. Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime has now revealed during an Activision Blizzard financial call that the game has sold 14 million copies so far, according to Polygon. Along with the PC version, this also counts the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions which were released earlier this year. The numbers will undoubtedly grow in the coming months when the game will be released for PlayStation 4."We're pleased with the response to the game's launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360," Morhaime said. "Lifetime sell through of the game across all platforms has reached over 14 million copies, and reviews have been very positive about how the game plays on consoles."

Blizzard is currently working on an expansion pack for Diablo 3. Titled Reaper of Souls, it will be making its way to Battle.net some time in 2014. The expansion pack will be adding a bunch of new things, such as the new Crusader character class, several new enemy types, an increased level cap to 70, a new act and new big bad Malthael.A quick look at the game reveals that Malthael is the fallen angel of wisdom, now an angel of death. He is the leader of a legion of death angels. Malthael is working on reaping the souls of both demons and humans, hence explaining the name of the expansion pack.New monster types include Seraphs, who are ranged spell casters, Executioners and Death Maidens, among others. The new zone—Westmarch—will be randomised for each playthrough, in typical Diablo fashion. The Crusader is a melee class whose combat style revolves around shields, flails and ranged spells.
