Samsung may be working on an eye scanner for the rumoured Galaxy S5

While Apple introduced the new fingerprint scanner with its latest iteration of the iPhone, Samsung is may be vying to bring eye sensor technology to mobile users. According to some sources and the Korean media, Samsung is working on an “Eye-Scanning” unlock capability that will allow Samsung Galaxy S5 users to unlock the smartphone by scanning their eyes, reports AndroidSaS.Samsung is reportedly working on a sensor that will protect devices like never seen before. However, nothing much is known about the Eye-Scanning sensor or how it actually works. We’d suggest taking this bit of news with a pinch of salt for now.

The Eye-Scanner news follows last week’s reports about the new Galaxy S5 all set for a launch in January 2014. After the massive success that was 2012's Galaxy S3, the sales of this year's Galaxy S4 have been quite poor. The company should be hoping to remedy the problem by pushing out a new smartphone in the S-series as soon as possible. Samsung will be attempting to one-up Apple by introducing its own 64-bit chip, which will presumably be featured in the Galaxy S5. Obviously, the rumoured security feature if it ever makes its way to the market is likely to be Samsung’s answer to the newly introduced fingerprint scanner by Apple. The company's fingerprint scanner has been in news ever since the new iPhones were believed to be in the works. Apple had claimed that TouchID is a very secure method of accessing your iPhone. Hackers have been very eager to crack the scanner, and some have even emerged successful.
