Game development veteran Ron Gilbert's latest game—The Cave—is out now on iOS. The game is available on the iTunes App Store for Rs 270, and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad running on iOS 6.1 and above. It is a hefty download, weighing in at 1.13 GB.The iOS version of the game has gone through some major tweaking for the control scheme. Instead of taking the lazy way out and adding virtual buttons on the screen, the developers have instead changed the controls to work on taps. To celebrate the iOS launch of the game, the developer Double Fine has released a trailer. Check it out:
The Cave is a puzzle-platformer made by Ron Gilbert in collaboration with Double Fine Studios. It has seven characters, out of which only three are playable at a time. Each character has their own unique personalities, abilities and backstories, and much of the game revolves around these characters co-operating to explore the depths of the titular cave. As they descend deeper into the cave, the characters learn more about themselves and how they got to their current predicament.Graphically, the iOS version of the game seems to look as good as any other version, only being beaten by the higher resolution PC and Mac versions. The voice acting from the original version of the game will also be present in the iOS version. Sadly enough, there is no news yet on whether the game will be coming to Android.
