LG G Flex curved smartphone pictured in press renders

expertreviews.co.uk-siena -

Leaked press render images purporting to show the upcoming LG G Flex smartphone, which the company is planning to compete with the recently-announced Samsung Galaxy Round.

Renders showing off the design of the handset, first published by Engadget, show that LG's next handset will feature curved-display technology created by using flexible plastic, rather than rigid glass, as the backing material for the screen. It's the same technology used in Samsung's Galaxy Round, but unlike Samsung's design, the G Flex is shown curving along its vertical axis rather than its horizontal axis - resulting in a shape some have already begun to call the 'bananaphone.'

The leaked images did not arrive with any specifications attached, but the handset is expected to sit firmly at the top of LG's smartphone family. That curved display could be as large as 6in and is likely to feature a Full HD 1,920x1,080 resolution. Storage capacities of at least 32GB and possibly 64GB are likely, as is at least 2GB of RAM and a quad-core processor. The handset will be running Google's Android operating system, again like Samsung's Galaxy Round, albeit with LG's own custom user interface running on top.

The handset is expected to launch some time next month, but until then firm specifications, along with international availability and pricing information, are being kept a closely-guarded secret by LG.
