Kobo launches three new eReaders and a tablet starting at Rs 7,999

Kobo marks its entry into the Indian market with four new devices. The company has launched three new e-readers – Kobo Touch, Kobo Glo and Kobo Aura HD. Along with these e-readers, the company has also launched the Kobo Arc tablet that is based on Android OS. All four devices are Wi-Fi-only and now available in India through Croma, Crossword, and WHSmith retail stores. The company is also offering the Kobo Touch and Arc at discounted prices for a limited period. While the content offered on the e-readers is only English, the company plans to add support other regional languages soon. To begin with, the Kobo Touch e-reader sports a 6-inch anti-glare Pearl E-Ink touchscreen. Priced at Rs 7,999, it weighs 185 grams and measures 165 x 114 x 10 mm. Its 2GB internal memory is expandable up to 32GB via the microSD card slot. Kobo claims that its battery life can last up to one month. As a festive offer, it is available for Rs 6,999 until November 3.

Priced at Rs 10,999, The next is the Kobo Glo e-reader with a 6-inch Pearl E-Ink touchscreen. The e-reader supports adjustable ComfortLight technology that lets people read in bright as well as low light conditions. Measuring 113.9 x 157.4 x 10 mm and weighing 185 grams, it comes with 2GB storage that can be expanded up to 32GB with a micro SD card. Just like the Touch, Glo also promises one month of battery life. The Kobo Aura HD has been fitted with a slightly larger 6.8-inch Pearl E-Ink WXGA+ touchscreen. Priced higher than the other two e-readers at Rs 13,999, its battery life is claimed to last up to 2 months. The Aura HD also includes the front-lit e-reader technology that ensures durability and even light distribution. It comes with 4GB on-board storage, expandable up to 32GB via the microSD card slot. Kobo has also launched the Arc, an Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean-based tablet. It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM. The IPS LCD has been optimised for 178 degree viewing angles and comes with an ultradurable glass to safeguard it from scratches. Some other features include 16GB on-board storage, 1.3MP front-facing camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, up to 10 hours of continuous reading and over two weeks of standby time. It is priced at Rs 11,999, but will be available at a festive price of Rs 9,999.
